Media Relations Manager Decatur, IL
This is a full-time/exempt position
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is
seeking a world-class communicator to
manage national media relations on a
day-to-day and long-term basis from the
Companys headquarters in Decatur,
Illinois.
Description:
Develops a deep understanding of the
business and translates that insight
into appropriate and compelling public
messages
Serves as primary company media
spokesperson on day-to-day matters and
during crisis situations
Develops and maintains relationships
with key reporters, producers and
editors at national media outlets
Writes and disseminates press releases,
statements and alerts
Develops and maintains relationships
with internal stakeholders including
executives and subject-matter experts
Identifies and evaluates opportunities
for proactive media outreach
Reviews and recommends action on
incoming media requests
Prepares company spokespeople for media
interactions and coordinates interviews
Maintains knowledge of reporters' beats,
agendas, and deadlines
Reports to Director, External
Communications
Manages Media Relations Specialist who
coordinates trade and local-level media
relations
Requirements:
Exceptional written and verbal
communication skills
Working knowledge of media relations
tactics and tools
Comfort with deadline-driven work
Ability to manage projects and balance
competing demands on time
Detail-oriented with a flair for
production details
Experience as a media spokesperson is
preferred
Requires a bachelors degree in
journalism, public relations, or
communications and six to eight years of
experience in a public relations agency
or the PR department of a Fortune 500 or
similar organization.
